I have cravings for Japanese food. I love Japanese food! Recently a famous Japanese food chain spread its wings into Kuching. That is non-other than the famous Sushi King. Before Sushi King came into Kuching, there are a few Japanese restaurants in Kuching. Some of them are quite good.

Last year I got to know this new dish...well... I guess it was in the menu ages ago and its just that I didn't bother to try it. So one find day, while I was having lunch at Momoyama Japanese restaurant. I decided to try out something new. So I settled for the Unagi set. Just in case some of you do not know what an Unagi is, let me explain to you what an Unagi is....ahemz...ahemz...the definition of Unagi as define is "edpedia"....Lol...joking, joking it should be wikipedia, Unagi is a Japanese word for fresh water eel. YES! Eel...slimy...squirmy snake like eels. Unagi are pretty common in Japanese menu.... the most common one is smoked Unagi and it is usually served with rice. So on that fine day, I got to taste Unagi... and I fell in love with it...the meat is soft and fleshy, the bones are edible (I think...so far I ate the small bones too...). The way the Japanese prepared the Unagi is just sensational.... the eel is not overcooked and the sauce they used for the Unagi is very nice. The sauce is sweet. From that day onwards...I became Unagi crazy.

Unagis .... awww...aren't they a cute bunch...sad they have to end up in someone's stomach...muahahaha

Whenever I am in a Japanese restaurant, I will order Unagi and gobble it down...and I feel so happy once I am finished with em.

Ready to be eaten Unagi...big portion....reasonable price =)

Then for the past few days... I kept having cravings for Unagi again! So I learned that a supermarket in Spring shopping Mall. So decided to go take a "looksee"..."looksee" and to my surprise it is not at all that expensive. In fact it is cheaper than eating them in a Japanese restaurant. Prices are tagged according to the weight. Average price is around RM11.60++ and its the whole Unagi as compared half Unagi when you go to the Japanese restaurant. I find the price reasonable and I sort of became a frequent customer there. Haha.!

The other thing I tried was...seasoned octopus... not sure is this a Japanese delicacy... but Kelly introduced it to me. You can obtain it from Ta Kiong Supermarket in Spring too. Price range for the octopus depends on the weight too. On average the price is around RM8.00. The seasoned Octopus is just as good as the Unagi. Is kind of sweet too but its really really very nice. I feel in love with it too. The best part for both of these dishes is that, no preparations are needed for it is ready to eat.

I have been going for jogging sessions with my friends during weekends.... I know what are all of you thinking! WEEKENDS only?? Better don't go jogging like tha..... but... but... hey.... its a good start for me.... considering I am such a lazy bump when it comes to exercising. Ha Ha!
