My leaking nose.

What a way to start my mid-term holiday. First I thought I was only having a cough and it will get well soon. Today the flu bug attacked me. I was still quite ok this afternoon. But I did sneeze a bit and I didn't really bother about it.

The bug didn't really attack me until when I went for my part-time tutoring job. I kept sneezing in class until all my students started to laugh and I got pretty frustrated with my nose. No matter how hard I cleared the nose it was sill itchy and nasal mucus keeps coming out and I used up all my tissues and the sneezes are still coming. Even when my class ended I was still sneezing... now I know how sneezy feels (snow white and the 7 dwarfs). To make matters worse I had to shout so loud at my students cause they were playing and shouting and they were ignoring me even when I tried to asked them to sit down. I guess I shouted really loud cause all the other students from other classes peeked into my class. and even the clerk can hear me from the other side. Zoiks! but hey the shouting helped a lot cause all my students sat down and kept really quiet.... ahhhh.... peace at last =P.

I feel like a leaking pipe now. Even as I am typing my nose still is itchy and I have sneezed a few times already and clearing my nose every now and then. Where is my febricol? I need my febricol, gosh I hope when I wake up tomorrow I will feel much better and the itchiness will be gone.

What a day!

I think I am going to spread this post into a few parts. If I am to put it all in one post it is going to take a long time and I think the post will be extremely long. Nevertheless to summarize the day I had I would say that. I woke up early in the morning for my part-time tutoring job, went home later than expected no thanks to my students. The highlight of the day was, First time ever I am involve in a blood donation drive and I actually donated blood. Was a cool experience. After that, went to permai with David and Kelvin and some more friends.

Took lots of photos there but not while I was donating blood though...bugger will steal the photos from Chang Ying them buahahhahaha....

PIKOM pc fair 2007 Part I

Wanted to blog about the pc fair earlier on but was busy preparing for my FIS mid-term test. Very hard subject. Yesterday I wanted to blog about it but suddenly I don't know why I was so sleepy, my eyes were so heavy that when I was resizing the photos it kept closing. lol... yesterday broke my record for sure. I slept around 9pm.

Anyway back to the topic. I went to the PIKOM pc fair with Ping and Florence on Saturday which was the second day of the fair. The fair is held on the 5th floor of permata car park. Well most fairs and exhibitions are held there anyway.

When we arrived there we decided to park somewhere that is near to the exhibition hall. Again Ping was driving that day. She is trying to polish up her driving skills, since she hasn't driven for 3 years or more. She is a careful driver at the same time a reckless driver but we survived. "I'm a survivor!*" Flo drove her own car for she needs to pick up her younger bro later.

The exhibition hall was packed with people. I felt like a sardine that are being squeezed into a small can together with my fellow mates. Lucky, the air-cond was working well so it wasn't really very humid in there but exhibition hall B was a disaster! No idea what is wrong with the air-cond was very hot in there! Lots of booths were set up, a total of 82 booths filled with electronic goodies ranging from laptops to cameras and pen-drives.

There are a lot of great offers in the fair. A Samsung 19" LCD monitor cost MYR699! quite a bargain! A 2GB pen-drive (Kingston) will cost MYR 60 and its a real steal! Laptops and Printers are priced lower than usual too. Most people on that day bought printers. Canon printers came with a lot of free gifts. Ranging from bags to umbrella (depends on what type of printer you buy... buy cheap ones you don't go thinking you can get the umbrella ok...in your dreams you can! LOL!).

Laptops comes in many different brands. You name it they have got almost all of the brands there. Acer, Apple, Asus, Dell, and of course the list goes on.

I was planning to get an LCD monitor. Dell and BenQ has great offers. But Samsung design is by far the best I saw (let us not compare it with Apple k... if apple comes in the pic all of them are down). Why did I rate Samsung having the best design? Simply because the design was very close to what we can get from an apple. Was just beautiful.

The best time to get real Knock down price is during the last day of the PC fair. Printers such as Canon goes as cheap as MYR150 or less. So if you want to get something for a real bargain, this is what you should do.

1. make sure you know what you want to get.
2. Plan your budget.
3. See when will the pc fair be held.
4. Go to the fair for the first or second day (up to you).
5. At the fair, take a survey to see where you can get the best bargain.
6. Once targeted, come back on the last day and knock down the price some more.
7. Go home feeling victorious!

Change my blog's looks again

I have changed the looks of my blog again! Because I am trying to blend it with my new banner which is sort of blackish in colour. Besides the new banner, I have changed most of the links too. Hope all of the readers out there like this new look.cheers!

Note: some amendments still need to be made. So this is still not the final looks I guess. Also Thanks to Jadey heaps for helping me doing modifications on the banner. It is beautiful and love it!

Good Friday... a good day for a haircut

When was the last time I cut my hair? Hmmmm.... I have no freaking idea.... this must have been like almost 6 months because I didn't manage to cut my hair before Chinese New Year.

So since today is a public holiday for East Malaysia (correct me if I am wrong). My friend and I took the opportunity to cut our hair. But I must say it was a very interesting day for us. I went to pick my friend around 2pm. Then we drove to Saberkas to get our haircut in one of the saloon in there, D'saloon. I was actually in the Saberkas carpark area... when suddenly....

My friend: SHIT!

Me: huh?

My friend: I forgot to turn off my gas!!!

Me: YOU WHAT!!!!!

My friend: Was cooking my instant noodles, and I forgot to turn off the gas

Me: Oh my gawd! How can you forget to turn off your gas?

So we had to turn back and drove quite a distance back to his house and turn off the gas... by the way it was nothing serious... because it turns out that the gas he was talking about was not the gas stove... LOL... was just a little tab on the gas tank's hose leading to the stove.

Oh I forgot to mentioned something...because I was in such a hurry to send my friend home I took the parking card back with me in the car... meaning I just zoom past the guard collecting the cards... It was until I was at the traffic light just outside Saberkas my friend realised the we didn't return the card.... so much for security huh! LOL

After that, we went back to Saberkas again this time he drove and we brought along the parking card that I took away from them...we reached Saberkas again... and we were pondering on how are we going to tell the guard we have a card already and this is what happened....

My friend scrolled down the window and... said in Bahasa Malaysia"Kami ada kad sudah (we already have a card)" to our surprise the guard nodded and continue chatting away in his walkie talkie... we can't help but laugh.

The guard seems more interested in his walkie talkie than the security of the cars that are coming in and using the carpark.

Anyway had continue on... had my hair cut at at D'saloon. It is a pretty nice saloon and I think the price is reasonable too. A haircut + shampooing + washing + styling it for you will cost me MYR 16.00 which is reasonable.

Later on, we went back and since I was in the Batu Kawa area I decided to drop by and chit chat with my "Ah Che" (foster sis). Known since secondary school and has not seen her for quite sometime and miss her tonnes. So Ah Che if you see this entry better keep in touch with me more!! or else kick you!!

After that went to the MJC New township... wondered off to the night market and bought some lekor-lekor to eat. Lekor-lekor is a type Malaysian cracker deep fried and usually you eat it with chilli sauce. Lekor-lekor is made from fish and flour. Very delicious when you eat them hot. If you happened to be in Malaysia or in Kuching you can try out Lekor- Lekor.

Another day... same all routine but Happy... I think

Yes indeed this is another normal day in the City of Kuching. Well normal for me, that is.

Woke up early in the morning, showered, dressed and send my mum to work and I noticed that the sunrise for today is exceptionally beautiful. As the sun rises, the light was golden in colour and fluffy clouds reflects the light giving it a Neon effect. Sky was clear air was fresh and naturally it brighten up my mood a lot.

With the gaiety inside of me I drove happily to my Uni and half way through I realised I forgot to bring a book that I borrowed from the library which is due today. So what the heck...drove home to take it. Then on the road again to my Uni.

Lucky for me my uni isn't that far from my house. Caught in a short jam and reached my uni and found myself a cozy parking space.

Went to the Swinburne Cafeteria ordered a glass of hot coffee (very blend and tasteless coffee) and a packet of Nasi Lemak for my breakfast. Enjoyed the meal (well...sort off).

Time 08:30... off I went to the library to study (well... not exactly study =P)... wanted to renew my book but found out that I had another book that was due yesterday!! So I can't renew that book... but the librarian was kind enough to reserve the book for me first. But I am still feeling "gay".

As 09:30 approaches I got ready for my class...waited outside the lab for a few minutes... hmmm... the lecturer is not here yet...wonder why... she must have forgotten about the class... went and checked with the lecturer... the reply I got was..."No, Edwin there is only 1 hour lab for today! Didn't you check the Blackboard? You have 1 hour of Lab today and another 1 hour Lab on Saturday."

Okaaaaaaaaay..... was my mistake... lucky for me some other students were waiting there also... so I was not the only one who made the mistake.... So another hour to burn... back to the 1st floor's library only to find that is was packed... so I scoot off to the 6th floor library and read the papers and used a PC to blog this entry...buahahahaha...

Ahhh...... SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM GONNA BE LATE FOR CLASS!!!! DIDN"T CHECK THE TIME!!! BUAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Loosing my sanity

I think I am loosing it. Been busy with my part-time work and there are still tonnes of things to do for my own studies. Like reading through my law, doing my accounting assignment, revise on my micro-economics. All these stuffs seems to be piling up!!

I have to set and prepare questions for my student's test which will be this coming Tuesday. I have to try and do my best in setting up proper questions in-line with what she is studying in school. I have been typing for these few days. Thinking about other works that I have not completed yet is driving me nuts.

I still owe my FIS lecturer 3 chapters of summary, minimum 2 sheets of A4 examination pad, not to mentioned the homework of this subject. My mid-term is coming up soon and my students' exams are coming too. I am so fucked up right now. Family issues aren't helping me out much either. Too add in more stress another of my form 3 student is quitting and seems like it is because of me but the father didn't want to say it out on that day when he came up to the tuition centre which leaves me hanging in a pool of confusion of what had I done wrong.

The only consolation I have so far is, finally I met ping today and she drove me. So I did manage to revive back a bit of sanity. She drove me for the first time today!! Was an thrilling experience... she is not a bad driver after all considering she have not really driven for the past few years. Well done ping!!

Oh well back to work...hope I don't loose my cools....

American Idol Season 6 - TOP 10

I have been keeping up with American Idol Season 6 for quite some time now. But I must say I don't keep up that frequently. But nevertheless I am quite familiar with all the contestants. As each week passes by the competition get tougher and tougher. It gets me more excited.

10 contestants are left to compete with each other this week. It is pretty hard to predict who is going out this week because I have not seen their performance yet. But until now I think those who are vulnerable would be Phil Stacey and Sanjaya Malakar. Sanjaya really should thank his lucky star for there were so many times when he was nearly voted out from the competition but his lucky stars saved him.

My bet for this season's Idol would be Melinda Dolittle. Other possibilities could be Lakisha or even Jordin. As for the guys the best would be Chris R., Chris S. and Blake but so far if I am to vote for the guys only I will place my vote for Chris R. I think he is pretty good.

But to sum it all up I would say the my favourite would me Miss Dolittle. I think she has great potential, Strong vocal, good personality. She is so sweet.

It was sad last week to see Stephanie Edwards being voted out I thought she was not bad too. But then again majority votes will win.

So who do you think this week will be voted out from American Idol?

Rainforest World Music Festival 2007

Again another new year and soon in the month of July the Rain Forest World Music Festival (RWMF) will blast off again at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong, Kuching, Sarawak.

This year RWMF is celebrating its 10 anniversary (1997-2007). So there are some promises that this year's event will be a bit different. In any case you do not know what RWMF is about, here is a brief explanation on what RWMF is about. The Rainforest World Music Festival is a unique festival that brings together on the same stage renowned world musicians from all continents and indigenous musicians from the interior of mythical Borneo.

By the way, renowned musicians here doesn't mean Justin Timberlake, Norah Jones, Celine Dion all these. Basically they are musicians, but good musicians that is mostly bringing the country's indigenous music here and perform here.

This year the festival will start on the 13th of July to the 15th of July which will fall on Friday (13th) until Sunday (15th) which will be the finale.

I am planning to buy the ticket for the last day. But when I checked the website the tickets will cost MYR80.00!!!! crap that is expensive and 80 bucks is only for a one day pass ticket to get a full 3 days pass it will cost MYR200...fuck... I will have to reconsider, furthermore I am not sure when will my holidays be.

Its a hard decision though, cause there are a few groups that I want to watch, one of them is a Vietnamese group called Khac Chi which is performed by a Husband and Wife. Another group I would like to see would be the DogHouse Skiffle Group from UK.

Lui Cha

Today was my first attempt eating Lui Cha. In case if you don't what Lui Cha is, I'll explain it to you. Lui Cha is a Hakka dish, Hakka is a sub group of the Han-Chinese. These people lives predominantly in the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangxi and Fujian in China. Lui Cha is basically made up from just vegetables so there is no meat in it and it is considered to be a healthy food.

Lui Cha is served with rice, long beans, spring onions, minced beancurd and pickled radish, all these are served together inside a bowl. They will give you another bowl of soup separately. Now the soup is greenish in colour because the herbs and tea leaves are being blended together and the soup tastes bitter. So is not really what I would call a good food.

I practically had to force each mouthful of bitter liquid and vege into my mouth. I got so sick of it I felt like puking but I controlled and force it in. No offense but to some of you out there it may taste nice. As I said before the soup tasted bitter and with a minty taste to it too. So I felt like I was eating toothpaste. I forgot to mention you have to mix the soup with the bowl of veges.

Verdict:
Lui Cha is not that bad but it is just not my cup of tea. I would have it once in a while but not frequently. But my mum kept on telling me I have to acquire the taste and needs to try it out a few more times....

Stir-Fried Kimchi Noodles

I always fancied Korean food. So far I like Kimchi Noodles a lot. It is not hard to make Kimchi Noodles. Why? Well you can buy the instant version in Supermarkets these days. I bought mine in Choice Daily, one of my favourite supermarkets becauseyou can find a lot of imported goods there and you can find a lot of stuffs there.

One of my favourite brand would be PALDO, they offer different Korean noodles with different flavours. I decided to try out the stir-fried Kimchi Noodles.

The stir-fried Kimchi noodle comes with a packet of stir-fried kimchi and a packet of soup-base powder. To cook the Kimchi noodle is very easy all you have to do is follow a few basic steps.

Step 1: Boil 2-4 cups of water in a small/medium size pot

Step 2: Add in the soup-base powder and stir.

Step 3: Add in the noodles


Step 4: After 1-2 Minutes add in an egg to enhance the flavour/taste (Depends on individual, not neccessary to add in egg)


Step 4: Cover the pot for another 2 minutes and then turn off the gas.


This is what the stir-fried kimchi looks like.


Step 5: Pour the noodles into a bowl.


Ready to serve!! You can serve the stir-fried kimchi seperately with the noodles

Or serve it together with the noodles.

Verdict:

The noodles tasted wonderful, I mixed the stir-fried kimchi together with the noodles and it tasted great. The stir-fried kimchi tasted some what like the chinese preserved or salted vegetable/cabbage.

Sayonara to Mr. Nice Guy

I have learned that in life, it doesn't pay to be a kind and good sometimes. So as from today onwards I am going to treat people nicely if they do the same to be. I'll be an asshole if they gonna be assholes. Who cares bout what they think... I mean hello sometimes in this harsh reality one has to be selfish.

Why I don't want to play Mr. Nice guy anymore? its simple. I was kind enough to advise a friend about a change to time for our micro tutorial class for this week. He was absent for the second lecture and it was during the lecture our micro lecturer asked us about whether could we attend the Thursday's tutorial class. Naturally most of us...well all of us did not have any clashes and agreed to attend it.

When I told him about the changed of time for this week's tute he said he can't make it and I asked him are there any clashes for that time. He gave me some weird answer. I got fed up and told him, if you have nay clashes or what so ever it is none of my business so you go and tell or explained to the lecturer... suddenly his msn status went offline... hmmmm... weird it was not even 11pm yet and never came online again... I had a hunch I was being blocked by him.

So I asked his housemate, did he went out or something? Then the housemate said no...why? he is in his room... he is online now too, can't you see him online? I said no in my msn list he is offline... so it is clear from here that I am being block.

I mean this is great so now I know I am just being a busybody... So from today onwards I am not going to help him I am going to mind my own business. I felt very insulted and hurt when I got blocked... at least I know an ass he is...

So can anyone advice me... what should I do? Should I act like nothing has happened?? Or should I bloody forgive him...or ignore him?? Advice please....

The moral of this story: TO MIND MY OWN FUCKING BUSINESS....

Chinese Traditions: The Lion Dance

The Lion dance is one of the many Chinese traditions that you can find in the Chinese culture. Over the centuries little has changed in this traditional Chinese dance.

Lion dance (Simplified Chinese: 舞狮; Traditional Chinese: 舞獅; pinyin: wǔshī) is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture, in which performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume.

The lion costume may be operated by a single dancer, or more frequently by a pair of dancers. The single dancer springs about while energetically moving and shaking the head and operating the jaws and eyes. The pair of dancers, forming the back and fore legs of the beast, mimic the motions of a single animal as they move between platforms of varying elevations. The dance is traditionally accompanied by gongs, drums and firecrackers, representing the descent of good luck.

The History

The lion dance originated in China close to a thousand years ago. The lion is traditionally regarded as a guardian creature. It is featured in Buddhist lore, being the mount of Manjusri. There are different variations of the lion dance in other Asian cultures including mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore, with each region possessing their own styles.

Chinese lion dances can be broadly categorised into two styles, Northern (北獅) and Southern (南獅).

Northern dance was used as entertainment for the imperial court. The northern lion is usually red, orange, and yellow (sometimes with green fur for the female lion), shaggy in appearance, with a golden head. The northern dance is acrobatic and is mainly performed as entertainment.

Southern dance is more symbolic. It is usually performed as a ceremony to exorcise evil spirits and to summon luck and fortune. The southern lion exhibits a wide variety of colour and has a distinctive head with large eyes, a mirror on the forehead, and a single horn at center of the head.

The Lion dance is often confused with the Chinese Dragon Dance, which features a team of around ten or more dancers. The Lion Dance usually consists of two people.

I still remember when I was a little kid, I loved watching the lion dance. If we pass through a house and there is a lion dance performance going on in the house, I would ask my dad to stop the car and I will watch the dance with awe. My mum re-called that there was once when I was still a kid no more than 10 years old I guess... I would nag my parents to buy me those small lion... and I am quite a demanding kid too. They wanted to get me the kiddy type I guess and I answered them.

My dad also got me a tape where it plays the drums, gongs, cymbals together and I would take my lion head and dance around as if I am a pro... (bleh >.<") come to think of it, very embarrassing... ha ha. Not only that when relatives who comes and visit our house I would put the tape and dance for them... I would follow what the professionals do. But when they ask me to join the real thing I would run and hide...cause I felt shy.... gosh... do I even have this 2 words "shy and embarrass" in my dictionary when I was a kid. But I outgrew all this soon. Never the less, I still like to watch people performing the lion dance. But I don't stop the car on purpose just to see it. Unless they are beautiful girls... LOL.... sheesh.... I am getting more perverted each day.
